Farrington Hwy Bike Improvements
The City and County of Honolulu Department of Design and Construction has published the Final Environmental Assessment with a finding of no significant impact for Farrington Hwy improvements from Kapolei Golf Course Rd to Fort Weaver Rd. The 3-mile Farrington Hwy improvement project includes widening of the roadway to 4 lanes, 8 ft sidewalks, 6 ft bike lanes, and a landscaped median strip. The project will serve the anticipated growth from planned projects in the area, such as the UHWO, the Ho‘opili master-planned community, DHHL East Kapolei Developments, and the HART rapid transit system. Additionally, a multimodal analysis will consider all users of the transportation facility. Construction is planned to start in May 2021.
Pearl Harbor Bike Path: Status Update
The Pearl Harbor Historic Trail (PHHT), Waipio Point Access Rd vehicular access gate has been shut and locked and a jersey barrier has been installed near the Pearl Harbor National Wildlife Refuge Waiawa Unit. The purpose of this action is to prevent unauthorized vehicular access to the PHHT muli-use path between Lehua Ave and Waipio Point Access Rd. Blocking unauthorized vehicles from entering the PHHT has made the path safer for all users. A big Mahalo to the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Hawaii Naval Facilities & Engineering Command Hawaii and The City and County of Honolulu Department of Facilities Maintenance for working together in removing much of the large debris all around and on the path, installing the jersey barrier, repairing and locking the gate.
Please call HPD if you find the gate open or vehicles on the trail.
