What’s there now:
Saratoga Road connects Kalia Road with Kalakaua Avenue. Along its length is a park, a variety of apartments, a post office, and some large hotels. Like most of Waikiki traffic is a mix of pedestrians, cyclists, buses, and cars. The road itself is wide, featuring two lanes in each direction and has some street parking and bus stops. Currently there is no bike infrastructure on Saratoga Road.
What the Oahu Bike Plan calls for:
A bike route consisting of sharrows is proposed for Saratoga Road. The route would run the entirety of the road from Kalia Road to Kalakaua Avenue and cost an estimated $13,586. The route would connect to a proposed route on Kalia Road and existing bike lanes on Kalakaua Avenue. The Oahu Bike Plan lists this as a high priority project.
What’s being done:
The Department of Transportation Services currently has tentative plans to place sharrows on Saratoga Road.
