What’s there now:
Ala Lilikoi runs from Salt Lake Boulevard up into the residential neighborhoods of Salt Lake. At its base is Salt Lake shopping center while at its peak is Salt Lake Elementary School. Featuring four to five lanes at its makai end, the road narrows to two as it moves into the mountains. On street parking is heavily utilized along both sides of Ala Lilikoi. There is currently no bike infrastructure on Ala Lilikoi.
What the Oahu Bike Plan calls for:
The Oahu Bike Plan calls for 1.17 miles of bike lanes to be installed along Ala Lilikoi at an estimated cost of $135,029. The lanes would connect Salt Lake shopping center with Salt Lake Elementary School and Ala Lilikoi with a planned bike lane on Salt Lake Boulevard. A lane here would ease commuting to the shopping center, areas outside of Salt Lake, and create a safe route for children in the neighborhood to get to school by bike.
What’s being done:
There are currently no plans to install bike infrastructure on Ala Lilikoi Street.
