What’s there now:
Ainamakua Drive is a loop road that connects residential Mililani with nearby Meheula Parkway. The road itself is wide and fairly quiet. Closer to Meheula Parkway the drive has two lanes in each direction separated by a median while further up the road switches to one wide lane in each direction separated by a double solid yellow line. The road has a twenty-five mile per hour speed limit. Currently there is no bike infrastructure on Ainamakua Drive.
What the Oahu Bike Plan calls for:
The Oahu Bike Plan calls for 1.12 miles of bike lanes to be installed from the Mililani Mauka Park and Ride to Kualapa Street at a projected cost of $128,423. The bike lanes would take advantage of Ainamakua Drives wide streets, fairly light traffic, and lack of driveways and parked cars on Ainamakua Drive. The lanes here would connect to planned project on Meheula Parkway and ease commuting for cyclists into Mililani’s town center.
What’s being done:
There are currently no plans to install bike infrastructure on Ainamakua Drive.
