Advocacy › Vision Zero Hawaii › Memorial Rides and Sign Waving
HBL holds Memorial Ride or Sign Waving events for pedestrians or cyclists killed, to honor the person, remind everyone that we each have a responsibility, and to see if any education/enforcement/engineering could prevent future crashes. Our focus is to get the community involved so that improving roadway safety is a community concern. We reach out to a wide audience. The Star Advertiser focuses on stories about the person killed, while HPD helps us ensure memorial rides and sign waving events are run smoothly, and Queens Medical Center-Trauma Injury Prevention develops the walk route and liaison with HPD. Any organization or individuals who want to help are welcome.
