Help change this . . . .
. . .to the Leeward Bikeway!
Imagine riding from Nanakuli to Aloha Stadium on one continuous 23 mile path!
Hawai’i Bicycling League’s Randy Ching has donated $30,000 toward a $60,000 goal to kickstart a 2016 campaign for a full-court press (including staff for community organizing, social media and advocating with government) to coordinate our collective efforts and get the Leeward Bikeway construction started in 2016.
The Leeward Bikeway has been in the works since 1977 (almost as long as HBL has been in existence) – 38 years of promises, good intents, false starts and delays. Let’s make 2016 the year it finally happens! Hawaii Department of Transportation has already planned it, designed it, and they even have funding for Phase I. But they are stuck on environmental approvals. We need to galvanize supporters to demonstrate tremendous community need for the Leeward Bikeway NOW to build Phase I (5 more miles to connect Waipahu to Kapolei) and Phase II (9 more miles to connect Kapolei to Nanakuli). The existing Pearl Harbor Historic Trail is 9 miles from Pearl Harbor to Waipahu.
Mahalo for your devotion to cycling and walking in Hawaii and a more livable community for everyone! Your contributions help us build a bicycle friendly Hawaii.
Mahalo & Ride Aloha,
