Light Up the Night Ride with HPD 2019

UPDATE: Thanks for everyone that came out! Check out the pictures from this ride at: https://www.facebook.com/pg/honolulu.police/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2532667260095593

Join the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) and HBL Saturday April 6th at 5:30pm for the Light Up the Night Ride with HPD!  In addition to being a fun ride through Waikīkī, the event will raise awareness about the importance of using lights and being visible when riding at night, and connect the cycling community with the HPD officers that help keep our roads safe. Following the ride, HPD officers will be available to answer your questions, discuss bike and traffic safety, and talk story.

Ride to raise awareness about safe nighttime cycling and sharing the road!

Ride (and talk story) to connect with the people who bike and HPD!

Ride for fun!

The short ride will go from Kapi‘olani Park through Waikīkī and back. The slow-moving group ride will be escorted by HPD officers. Bring front and rear lights and other high visibility items! The ride will start and end at Kapi‘olani Park – parking lot near Monsarrat Avenue and Paki Avenue (click here for a map). If you are arriving by car, you can park in that same parking lot, but of course we encourage you to come by bike! All riders must wear a helmet* and have working front & back lights during the ride. The ride will depart around 6:30pm, but all riders should plan to arrive by 5:30pm to sign-in. Please make sure your bicycle is in good-working order for the ride. Your bicycle may be subject to a safety check to ensure it is safe to ride.

Those under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All participants should be able to bike safely in a group setting.

These helmets are yours to keep 🙂
