SCHEDULED FOR - Sunday, September 26, 2021
Although we are hopeful the islands/State of Hawai’i will be open for hosting large outdoor sporting events soon, it is hard to tell if this will occur by September 2021.
HBL’s has requested permits for the 2021 Honolulu Century Ride route and accompanying park reservations but to date none have been issued – and therefore the event is not yet approved by the City&County of Honolulu and cannot proceed without.
Currently, the island of O’ahu is in Tier 3 which allows for select groupings of 25 and no accommodation for outdoor sporting events of any size. The City&County Honolulu will only issue permits based on what the Tier system allows, with no exception. To date there have been no other permitted large outdoor sporting events or races throughout the State.
We are continuing our planning and will open registration as soon as we can receive our permitting. We are confident officials are reviewing all aspects of our State’s reopening plans and understands the importance for business, social and health of residents and visitors. If we are able to receive permitting it may come with restrictions, ex., grouping riders, sending out in heats/waves, as we have seen happen internationally in some sporting events.
We know this is not an exact answer we all hope for but sharing what we know as of today. We will continue to update the site as new information arrives.
