University, McCully, & Metcalf Complete Streets
TUE 2/12 6:30pm
@ Ala Wai Elementary cafeteria (503 Kamoku St)

The University of Hawaii Manoa area Complete Streets plan kicked off in 2018 and many of participate in the initially round of public meetings. This meeting is a next step in the process where the City will be presented proposed changes – so it’s very important that we have supportive voices to make sure the proposals can move forward towards realization!
Mahalo HBL (and the Moiliili/ McCully community) for working on this!
This project would – I hope retire – one of the oldest and silliest “bike lanes” in the City…the Metcalf section just mauka from Wilder, that requires an uphill cyclist to “hop over” a curb onto the “sidewalk”. This legacy facility might go back to the 70’s/80’s, so time to retire it, as “we” know better. [I spent many a year cycling to UHM and battling this deficient roadway…until I found it was easier to move homes vs. struggle with its safety issues and the poor connections to UHM from the Ewa side.]
