Urban Tactical Biki Bicycling Workshop

Education › Cycling Workshops › Urban Tactical Biki Bicycling Workshop (HBL.org/BikiBasics)

Biki, Honolulu’s bike sharing system, is biking at full speed on all gears! It enables people to get around conveniently and easily by using the Biki bikes. HBL, in partnership with Biki, will be holding a series of our “Bicycling Basics” workshops – but the very exciting aspect in this is that participants will get to use the Biki bicycles for the workshop… Free of charge! This is all designed to have you feel safe and comfortable riding around Honolulu’s streets, and to get know Honolulu’s Ultra Convenient bike sharing system! More information on Bikeshare Hawaii’s Biki can be found at their site: GoBiki.org.

NOTE: You must already know how to ride a bike very well and be somewhat comfortable going on roads with cars and riding in a group. This is NOT a Learn to Ride workshop, that is a completely different workshop available at HBL.org/workshops!

✦ Urban Tactical Biki Bicycling  workshops have a minimum of 4 students and a participant cap of 14 students. Workshop reservations are on a first come, first served basis – space is limited! Those that sign up after the first 14 will be notified and placed on a waitlist and contacted if there is an opening (at least 24 hours in advance of the workshop. If there are less than 4 students enrolled, you will be notified and added to the following Urban Tactical Biki Bicycling Workshop the following month).

✦ Biki bicycles are easy to use and can accommodate riders of all sizes. They have built in lights and wider tires to conquer any pothole. Urban Tactical Biki Bicycling participants will get to learn about the ins & outs of the Biki system and how to use the Biki bikes.

✦ Helmets are required for the riding portion of this workshop. If you do not have your own please let us know at least 48 hours in advance and RSVP and we will provide one for you to use for the workshop and keep!

✦ Bikeshare Hawaii is providing a Biki bike for you to participate in the Urban Tactical Biki Bicycling workshop. If you want to ride your own bike to the meet up location and then use a Biki bicycle that is great, please kindly email Carlos at Carlos@HBL.org  to notify him before the workshop. Also bring an effective locking mechanism for your bike (U-Locks recommended) since you will need to use a Biki bike for this workshop.

You will need to download the Biki App (click here for how to)  and input your credit card information to be able to load up the free time that Biki will provide to use the biki for this workshop.

There will not be any charges to your credit card for this workshop, this is simply to be able to unlock the biki and use it for the workshop and ensures accountability of the bikes we checked out. You will now have access to a biki anytime you need one if you decide to continue using the bike share system. Once your free time runs out, then you will have a choice of what plan works best for you, see the app site for more details. If you decide you may also simply delete the app. Any questions feel free to reach out to Carlos@HBL.org or call 808-735-5756
