Update 2/5/18 – The Planning Committee voted to remove bikeshare from Bill 82. That is to say, the bill no longer seeks to ban bikeshare in Chinatown. Thank You to the many people that submitted testimony, this undoubtedly had a role in the change of course.
Protect Bikeshare in Chinatown – Submit Testimony Now (see update at top)
Biki, Honolulu’s public bikeshare system, has been getting more people on bikes, providing them a convenient, healthy, environmentally friendly, and fun way to get around town. And Biki is on track to be servicing more neighborhoods and people with an expansion this summer.
But, the City Council is considering Bill 82 CD1 that would ban bikeshare from Chinatown. Chinatown is one our most multi-modal neighborhoods and bikes and bikeshare should be a growing part of it – a ban on bikeshare would be the exact wrong direction. This is an attack not just on Biki in Chinatown, but on the vision of public bikeshare being apart of a bicycle-friendly Honolulu and Oahu where thousands more of our residents are bicycling for health, recreation, and transportation. Please submit testimony to stop Bill 82 CD1!
Bill 82 CD 1.htm) is being heard this coming Monday February 5th 10:00am. Testimony is due by this Sunday February 4th.
