Looking to donate a new or used bicycle?
The Hawaii Bicycling League does not take bicycle donations on a normal basis but we are happy to refer you to a couple of wonderful other local non-profits that do!
Cycle Manoa
Cycle Manoa is a “student volunteer organization dedicated to promoting and enabling cycling on the University of Hawaii campus, and throughout the island. [They] provide bike repairs to students for free, and parts at cost, as well as hands-on learning of bike repair.” This is a great place for students (or anyone) to hone their bike mechanic skills in a safe place with lots of great tools for them to work with. They help build up bikes and sell them for insanely affordable prices to current UH students.

KVIBE
KVIBE (Kalihi Valley Instructional Bicycle Exchange ) is a “nonprofit bicycle education program/shop that promotes bicycle-related activities for Kalihi Valley.” They get donated parts and bicycles and have children work to build them up, eventually earning their own bicycle(s). They not only give the youth a safe space to learn how to work on bikes, but teach the youth life skills and about their cultural roots.

HBL’s Silent Action
HBL Members Annual Dinner & Fundraiser – Silent Auction Donations
There are certain times that HBL will accept bicycle donations – mainly for the HBL Members Annual Dinner & Fundraiser! This event occurs annually at the end of January, and features a sweet Silent Auction with wonderful items guests can bid on such as new bike parts, cycling accessories, restaurant gift cards, hotel getaways, excursion packages, new or like-new bikes, and more. If you have a brand new bike that didn’t get to live it’s life out on the road, or have one that is in great condition that others would want to bid on, please send a quick picture of your bike (in it’s current condition) to Malia at Malia@HBL.org, and we will be happy to help your bike start a new life!

Unsalvageable Bikes
Both Cycle Manoa and KVIBE take parts from used bikes to build up fully working bicycles. They tune up bicycles in fair condition that just need some love to be safe, rideable bikes. Often times the mechanics and volunteers there can make wonders happen, but there is a certain point where they have to draw the line with accepting bike donations. They have only so much space to keep the bikes and may use their own discretion to turn away bikes (like ones that are non-salvageable). You can check HERE for when the City’s Bulky Item Pickup is scheduled next for your area.

If I donate a bike that is currently registered under my name, will the accepting Bicycling Program re-register the donated bicycle?
