HBL is a member of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Bicycling (MACB) comprised of “'citizens who are interested in improving conditions for bicycling in Honolulu.” The committee’s purpose is to provide citizen input to develop and propose cost-effective solutions to the City that assist in Honolulu becoming a bike friendly city. To participate or for more information, contact Chris Sayers, the City and County’s Bicycle Coordinator or Daniel Alexander, HBL's Advocacy Director.
The MACB has four sub-committees: Planning and Project, Public Policy, Research and Statistics, and Communications.
Planning and Project: Review and make recommendations to the MACB for construction and planning projects prior to the completion of the project design stage to ensure accommodation of adequate bike facilities
Public Policy: Review public policy and make testimony recommendations to MACB.
Research and Statistics: Provide annual report of progress to become bike friendly city status, annual bike accident data, state bike masterplan, city bike masterplan and federal funding of state bike facilities. Inform MACB on the latest bike research.
Communications: Promote bike awareness and safety to the general public.
