    Ride Calendar

    Monday, May 14th

    1. Bike to Work Week
      • Contact Chad Taniguchi at chad@hbl.org 255-8271 if you want to help make this year the best ever for bike commuting on Oahu by getting your workplace involved, by encouraging more commuter mentors (http://www.hbl.org/oahu-commutes) and by publicizing this week. Parade Magazine recently noted that if you want to save $10,000 this year, the biggest way to do that is to ride a bicycle -- it will save you about $4,000 over a year. Can you use an extra $4,000 while getting in the greatest shape of your life, feeling more independent, and saving the environment?

Around Kaena Pt on Zach's Ride
        • Login or register to post comments

See the youtube video of the Tradewinds Cycling Team riding road bikes around Kaena Pt in December.

Two places to walk -- 1) first gate (10 yards), and 2) washed out area (30 yards) where cyclists will help each other carry bikes across the washout. Safety first.
        Suggestion:
        1) wear mountain bike shoes or running/hiking shoes until after Kaena Pt. (Road bike shoes may get torn up and may not have enough traction). HBL will carry your road bike shoes by car from Wahiawa start to the Waianae side and exchange shoes with you then. We will give you back your shoes at the State Capitol. Put your name and phone number on the bag.
        2) if you ordered a Dri-Fit Tshirt, you will get it at the start in Wahiawa. HBL can also carry your other shirt/jersey in a bag with your shoes to the state capitol. Put your name and phone number on bag.
Thank you for the questions to improve the ride.
        Mahalo, Chad
