Traffic Skills
Join the Hawaii Bicycling League and Kapi`olani Community College in The League of American Bicyclists' Traffic Skills 101-Bicycle Skills and Safety Class.
This course will provide you with the skills and confidence needed to enjoy cycling in Honolulu. Course includes discussion on your rights and responsibilities under Hawaii law, where to ride on the road, who to ride with and where for a more enjoyable and safer experience, and how to develop your "radar" and 6th sense for safety. In addition, there will be discussion and some hands-on training on what equipment to use, clothes to wear for safety and comfort, how to fix a flat, adjust your brakes and gear, and perform other general routine maintenance.
Course Dates, Times and Location:
- June 8, 10, 17
- August 3, 5, 12
- 5 hours in-class and 5.5 hours on-road instruction
- Tuition Cost (includes student manual): $75. 10% discount for HBL members.
Instructors: Frank Smith, one of Hawaii's foremost cycling instructors, and Dr. Robin Brandt, assistant instructor (Both League of American Bicyclists certified instructors)
