Tantalus is one of the best spots for cycling on Oahu. With a consistently moderate grade, stunning views, and lack of car traffic, it's a great way to pack in a workout at the start or finish of your day. Whether you're a runner, hiker, walker, or cyclist, Tantalus has something to offer for everyone.
With all that Tantalus love, it's especially painful to hear about some of the recent mishaps on our favorite mountain. Cyclist Amir Najam was stabbed there not too long ago, and recently did city did some repaving that has been causing cyclists to crash. On top of this, we've been hearing reports that there was another brutal attack on the mountain last week--this time on female cyclist. Her attacker was reportedly caught, but we're still weary. Details to come, soon.
Despite all this, I know I won't stop riding Tantalus. I encourage you all to continue riding, as well. The more cyclists on Tantalus, the safer we'll all be. Maybe try a bright daytime ride--the shade is good, and the views are better.
Our Mission: Getting more people to ride bicycles for health, recreation, and transportation by making Hawaii's streets safer through advocacy, education, and events since 1975.
