All of us at the Hawaii Bicycling League hope you had a great holiday season, full of family, food, and of course, cycling. I know I combated any holiday food comas with a healthy share of cycling--I opted to join the Rapha Festive 500 and ride 500 kilometers (310 miles) between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. While there were moments when my legs were begging me to stop, I managed to ride the full distance and enjoyed the best (and worst) of Hawaii cycling, riding around the Windward and Leeward coasts. We're so lucky to enjoy what I consider the best weather in the world--not a snowflake in sight, only waves and the occasional whale on the coastline!
The highlight was definitely my early morning Christmas Day ride. Nothing is better than Oahu's roads without the normal car traffic, and the air was actually cool. Check out the view from Makapu'u--perhaps it'll inspire you to ride the Honolulu Century, or the Haleiwa Metric Century?
Our Mission: Getting more people to ride bicycles for health, recreation, and transportation by making Hawaii's streets safer through advocacy, education, and events since 1975.
