Tradewind Saturday Ride 01/26/08

7am Depart, Kunia to Mokuleia
w/Kolekole,KUNIA PARK & RIDE LOT, about 60 miles, about 4 hours
• Bring PHOTO ID for Schofield Base access - or you will not be allowed on base to ride
up Kolekole Pass.
• Coffee afterwards at KUNIA Starbucks

We'll head out from the Kunia Park & Ride Lot across the street from the Kunia Walmart Store, and head up Kunia Road to Schofield/Wheeler where we'll regroup at theback gate to Wheeler right were Kunia turns into 4-lanes. After regrouping we'll ride as group through Lyman Gate onto Schofield Barracks. Continue Lyman Rd to merge at Trimble Rd...keep left at merge. Regroup at top of Kolekole Pass, descend. Stay straight on Trimble past merge, and turn left on Beaver Rd (gas station on corner). Right at stop sign (McMahon Rd). Left at fork (Elementary school), left through gate, left onto Wilikina Rd. Continue down Snake Road (Kaukonahua Road) and Farrington Highway to Mokuleia Beach Park where we'll regroup and take a bathroom break. We'll retrace our route back to Waialua, go past Waialua Rec Center and then proceed up Pineapple Hill (Kamehameha Hwy) where we'll regroup at the Dole Plantation bus stop before heading down Kunia Road to our cars.

DIRECTIONS
The Kunia Park & Ride lot is located in Kunia, across the steet from the Kunia Walmart store. From H-1 West-bound: take the Kunia Road off ramp. You will be going up Kunia Road when you come off the ramp, turn right at Wendy's which is at the 2nd Kupuna Loop. At the first intersection turn left then immediately right into the Park and Ride lot. Be aware that the nearest bathroom in the area is in the convenience store/gas station next to Wendy's - please be very courteous if you go there.
RIDE PROTOCOL:
BE SAFE
Helmets required. NO HELMET- NO RIDE, no exceptions
NO AERO-BAR use ANYTIME on the ride (except for designated time trial practice
rides).
Rotate to the left when in the paceline
Don't over-lap wheels
Do not run stoplights or creep through intersections
Show up on time, so we can all leave on time (most folks arrive 15-30 minutes prior
to departure time)
No audio device use while riding (i.e.: cell phones, Walkman, CD player, 2-way
radios, MP3 players)
Look out for each other (stop to help out with flats & mechanicals)
Welcome the new riders, introduce yourself and help orientate them
Don't leave anyone behind (remember what it was like to be the new rider being
dropped?)
Help each other become better riders (share what you know)
Have fun
