These days we've been getting a lot of complaints from our cycling members that police officers are pulling them over for not riding on a bike path where one is available. Legally, cyclists do not have to use an off road bike path even if one is available--including roads like Date St. and Paki Ave. Read more »
What is HPD's protocol when reporting on a crash between a bicycle and a car? What happens when the cyclist is taken to the hospital before HPD arrives; how does the cyclist get his/her side of the story into the police report? Sgt Winston Leong and members of HPD's community services and bicycle detail will answer these and other questions with HBL members, such as - Isn't it ok to choose the street over the bike path on Kapahulu and Date streets? Where is it ok to ride on the sidewalk?

Mahalo to everyone that attended Commuter Cycling 101 this weekend. We had a great turnout of 18 participants from the community, and even the Saturday Slo-mos joined us this week!
